U.S. Central Command said on Saturday that Houthi forces fired an anti-ship ballistic missile toward commercial traffic in the Red Sea, but the weapon did not hit any vessel. No injuries or damage were reported, according to the statement.

The incident adds to a pattern of attacks and attempted attacks that have disrupted one of the world’s most important shipping routes. Since the start of the Red Sea crisis, commercial operators have faced repeated security concerns, higher costs, and route changes tied to the conflict.

CENTCOM did not say whether U.S. forces intercepted the missile. The statement described the launch as directed at international shipping, underscoring the continued risk to civilian maritime traffic in the region.

The latest attempt comes as global shipping remains vulnerable to spillover from regional conflict, with seafarers and commercial crews bearing much of the immediate danger. For now, officials say the missile failed to cause any physical harm.
