The secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council, simultaneous with the holding of the farewell and funeral procession for Ali Khamenei, the former leader of the Islamic Republic, announced in a statement that the main slogans of these ceremonies are “resistance against enemies” and “revenge for the blood of the martyred leader of Iran.” While the secretariat has spoken of “revenge,” the Supreme National Security Council previously, unanimously with one person dissenting, voted to hold negotiations with the United States and sign a memorandum of understanding with that country.
