'We will fight' — We asked Ukrainian soldiers about Trump's latest outburst

U.S. President Donald Trump claims his approach to ending the war in Ukraine is "very simple" — easing sanctions on Russia, pressuring Kyiv, and insisting Ukraine's position is untenable as "his country is in shambles".

But on the front lines, where Russian forces remain bogged down and are retreating in some sectors, Ukrainian soldiers see things differently.

The Kyiv Independent spoke with troops about Trump’s latest outburst, from those who view him as "an overly talkative, choleric, elderly, and unwell man" to soldiers warning that restrictions on tools like Starlink are a direct "shove in the back of every one of us."
