🔺 Vance: Our goal is to prevent the Islamic Republic from obtaining a nuclear bomb
▪ The vice president of the United States says the goal of the United States is to ensure that the Islamic Republic does not have the ability to obtain a nuclear bomb in the short term and long term.
▪ J.D. Vance said the short-term dimension of this goal is what has been done so far; destroying nuclear sites and the Islamic Republic’s ability to rebuild them, and then the long-term part that is now the focus: creating conditions in which the ruling regime in Iran would commit to never trying to rebuild the capacity to produce a nuclear bomb.
▪ He added that the hardliners of the Islamic Republic think that by allowing the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz under a ceasefire agreement, their pressure lever will be lost, and that is why they began attacking oil tankers.
