🔻 US official: American forces stopped an oil tanker in the Sea of Oman

A US official told Reuters that the forces of that country on Friday targeted the oil tanker “MT Lavina” in the Sea of Oman and stopped it from moving. According to the official, the ship had been attempting to violate the maritime blockade of Iran’s ports.

Earlier, the Iranian news agency Fars, citing an “informed source,” reported that in the US missile attack on an oil tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas in the Sea of Oman, two crew members were killed and its engine room was damaged.

Fars also claimed that the United States had thought the tanker was carrying gas from Iran. In the report by this news agency, the name of the ship was not mentioned, but new details that the US official provided to Reuters indicate that these reports likely refer to a single incident.

The US Army has not yet released any details about possible casualties or the type of weapon used in this attack.
