🔶 U.S. security warning to its citizens amid tensions with Iran
The U.S. State Department, out of concern about Americans being targeted abroad by the Iranian government and “due to increased tensions in the Middle East,” issued a global security alert.
The ministry has asked American citizens around the world and “especially in the Middle East” to “follow the guidelines set out in the security advisories issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.”
The alert, noting that “U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted,” states: “Canceling flights and the periodic closure of airspace may disrupt travel.”
However, no further details were provided.
The alert also said that groups backing the Iranian government may “target other U.S. interests abroad or locations associated with the United States around the world.”
