U.S. officials say China’s state shipping company COSCO has installed hidden equipment on its ships that can intercept military communications and track ships and aircraft near the coasts.

According to Americans, this information helps Beijing with military identification and surveillance, early warning, and territorial disputes.

China has rejected these claims and said they are completely baseless.
