🔶 Third Round of U.S. Army Attacks on Targets in Iran
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the U.S. Army has launched a new round of attacks on Iran. This is the third round of attacks in recent days, carried out in response to a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) about attacking a vessel and closing this waterway until further notice.
CENTCOM wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the attacks began after Iran openly attacked a container ship flying the flag of Cyprus that was transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement adds: “A civilian crew member of this ship is missing, and the vessel is unable to continue its voyage due to a fire on the deck and severe damage to the engine room.”
The statement continues: “Iran was given another opportunity to demonstrate its commitment after it became accountable for previous attacks on commercial vessels, but once again it failed. In response, the United States will continue to impose a heavy cost by further weakening Iran’s ability to attack noncombatant mariners and commercial ships that freely transit the Strait of Hormuz.”
