🔺The United States and Britain are seeking to form a maritime alliance for the Strait of Hormuz

▪ U.S. Defense Secretary has asked his British counterpart to host an international meeting on protecting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Pete Hegseth, U.S. defense secretary, raised this request on Friday in a phone call with Wes Streeting, Britain’s defense secretary.

▪ Based on a Bloomberg report citing sources familiar with the matter, Washington wants the meeting to be held in the United Kingdom and Mr. Hegseth to participate in it. No final decision has been made yet.

▪ Previously, Axios reported that a high-level meeting next week in London will be held with the aim of forming an international coalition to protect commercial shipping in this strait.
