The prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar, in a phone call made by the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, expressed their “opposition and condemnation” regarding attacks that targeted commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Based on a statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he told Abbas Araghchi that such actions would lead to “undermining trust, threatening international shipping security, and harming efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region.”
The Qatari foreign minister also, by referring to the importance of international shipping security, emphasized the need for all parties to remain committed to dialogue and efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement aimed at strengthening regional security and stability.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well, the two sides agreed on continuing contacts to support efforts to reduce tensions.
