Ruhollah Rahim-Pour, journalist and political analyst, referring to remarks by Donald Trump, the President of the United States, about the Islamic Republic’s desire for a deal and the possibility of ending the war before the midterm elections, said that changing the likely timing of the war’s end does not necessarily mean changing the war’s objectives or reaching an agreement. He added that a distinction should be made between Tehran’s willingness to negotiate, the Islamic Republic’s readiness to accept the United States’ conditions, and an agreement that could stop the war.

He added that the Islamic Republic’s possible desire for an agreement to reduce pressures is conceivable, but based on available information it is not possible to say with certainty that the government has decided to end the war through a deal.
