🔸The President of the European Parliament said on Monday, 23 Shahrivar, during the plenary session of this parliament that in recent months and weeks, repression in Iran has continued, and in order to create fear and intimidation among the people, death sentences have been issued for more protesters.
🔸In this regard, Roberta Metsola referred to the case of Taraneh and Romina Rehimi and said that they were subjected to torture, rape, and sexual abuse so that one of them would make a forced confession.
🔸She called for the immediate release of Taraneh and Romina Rehimi and others who, according to her, have been imprisoned “unfairly,” and added that their story is only one of thousands of accounts of repression in Iran.
🔸Taraneh and Romina Rehimi are two of the 16 accused in the “Shuhada Square” case in Isfahan, and they are currently being held in Adelabad State Prison in Isfahan.
🔸Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Isfahan sentenced Taraneh to death and Romina to 25 years in prison.
🔸Roberta Metsola said that “we will not stay silent,” and for that reason they have banned the presence of representatives of the Iranian government in the European Parliament and emphasized the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
