🔻Laleh Marzban, an Iranian actress, received the Best Actress award in the “Horizons” section of the Venice Film Festival for her role in the film “Caregiver” directed by Mohsen Qarai.
Ms. Marzban dedicated her award to “Brave Women of Iran” and said that “they are enduring the heaviest pressures.”
In her acceptance speech, she said: “I dedicate my award to the women of my homeland who have paid the highest price for the smallest freedoms.”
While reading her speech with tears in her eyes, Ms. Marzban added: “Today these women carry the weight of dreams, courage, and hope, and I believe that one day our wishes will be fulfilled.”
At the end, she said in Persian: “I know that we are experiencing the hardest days of our lives, but we must not lose hope.”
In the 83rd Venice Film Festival, two Iranian films participated: the film “A Little Light,” directed by Ali Asgari, in the competition section, and “Caregiver,” directed by Mohsen Qarai.
