Kamyar Behrang, a member of the editorial board of Iran International, referencing statements by Ahmadreza Radan, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Republic’s police, about arrests and the armed threats made to citizens, about eight months after the Dey protests, said the government knows that it cannot eliminate public discontent through executions and repression and can only temporarily control protests.
He added that the Islamic Republic also knows that people win once, and for that reason each time it intensifies its threatening rhetoric.
