The joint meeting between Iran and the Gulf states on the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed.

🔸Oman’s foreign minister announced on Sunday evening, 22 Shahrivar, that the meeting between Iran and the Gulf region countries, which was scheduled to be held in Oman on Monday and in which any possible agreements regarding the Strait of Hormuz would be discussed, has been postponed.

🔸Badr Al-Busaidi wrote on X: “In order to reach consensus, the regional meeting that was scheduled to be held tomorrow in Salalah has been postponed.”

🔸He added: “We remain committed to strengthening a dialogue that helps contribute to stability and sustained cooperation in our region.”

🔸About an hour later, Iranian media, citing the director-general of the Persian Gulf at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed the postponement of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran and the Gulf littoral countries.

🔸The postponement was announced one day after Bahrain’s foreign ministry said it would not attend a proposed meeting between Iran and regional countries regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

🔸In a statement, Bahrain said this position had been communicated to Oman in advance through official channels and does not mean ignoring Oman’s efforts or Bahrain’s opposition to resolving disputes through dialogue.
