Hossein Iraqchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, arrived in Muscat on Saturday, 20 Tir 1405, to hold talks with Omani officials about developments in the region, especially the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

This trip comes at a time when reports point to an increase in U.S. pressure on the Islamic Republic to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. According to some reports, Washington has asked Tehran to publicly commit that it will not create an obstacle to the passage of commercial ships.
