Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, spoke by phone with Asim Munir, the chief of staff of the Pakistan Army, and Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi foreign minister, as Israel’s attacks on southern Lebanon intensified and tensions between Tehran-backed Houthi forces and Saudi Arabia escalated.

In a Telegram channel post about Amir-Abdollahian’s conversation with the Saudi foreign minister, it wrote that the two sides, referring to the intensification of tensions and the increase in insecurity in the region, emphasized the need to continue cooperation and diplomatic efforts to prevent the widening of the scope of tensions and to restore stability and security to the region.

The same Telegram channel also wrote about the contact between Amir-Abdollahian and Asim Munir: "In this call, the two sides, while reviewing the latest developments in the region, exchanged views on the intensification of tensions and the increase in insecurity in the region and on its implications for regional peace and stability."

The Telegram channel of the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic added: "The two sides also, while pointing to the need for vigilance and coordination among the countries of the region in response to ongoing developments, emphasized the use of shared capacities to help establish lasting peace and security in the region."
