🔻Hosein Mahboubî, the IRGC spokesperson, said that Iran will “sanction” any vessel that passes through the “prohibited area” designated by Iran without coordination.

Mr. Mahboubî said that the Strait of Hormuz is now the “basis for military action” against vessels that intend to pass without coordination with Iran. However, the “defined environment” for Iran’s “sanctions route” includes “part of the Sea of Oman and part of the Arabian Sea.”

He said: “The coordinates of this sanctions route will be announced later.”

He added, pointing out that Chabahar is the starting point of this area, that the Iranian “sanctions zone and route” has “expanded,” and vessels that enter this area will later be unable to use the Strait of Hormuz, and legal services and insurance for them “will not be provided.”

The IRGC spokesperson added: “Previously, if an enemy vessel—or even a commercial ship—intended to enter or leave without coordination, we considered the Strait of Hormuz as the main area for action. But now the area of interest has expanded.”
