For years, I have called for bold, swift, and decisive action to protect the integrity of America’s elections. Every American has the right to know that when they vote, their vote is counted precisely in a secure system—one in which fraud and interference are not only difficult, but nearly impossible. Unfortunately, the system we have today falls disastrously short of this standard. Tonight, I am announcing that vital and important information showing concerning vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure will not be classified and will be released immediately. This evidence indicates that our election system is dangerously exposed to hacking, exploitation, and foreign interference. Just as concerning, this vital information has been hidden from you, the American people, for years, and that will change from this moment on. The documents we will publish starting tonight have been compiled by a Government Accountability Office task force for transparency, along with staff from the Intelligence Advisory Board of the President. These documents were prepared with the support of senior leaders of our intelligence organizations, all of whom personally reviewed the findings presented on this night and fully confirmed their authenticity.
