At the time of the incident, the helicopter was present to cover a deadly bus crash in the area.
Los Angeles city fire officials said that the fire caused by the incident spread to four cars and two warehouses as well, and more than 70 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to contain it.
In response to the incident, California Governor Gavin Newsom wrote in a post on his X account: “Our hearts are with the victims and families of tonight’s devastating incidents—the Metro bus crash and the helicopter crash in Chatsworth—and with all members of the NBC4 family.”
