A draft resolution prepared for consideration at the IAEA Board of Governors session from 16 to 20 Mehr asks Rafael Grossi, the Director-General of the agency, to send resolutions and the related report regarding the Islamic Republic’s nuclear file to the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly.
In the draft, which refers to the Board of Governors’ resolutions of 22 Khordad 1404 and 20 Khordad 1405, the council’s assessment that “Tehran has not complied with its obligations under the safeguards agreement” is emphasized again.
The text asks the Islamic Republic to immediately take the necessary steps to address the issues of non-compliance so that the Director-General of the IAEA can provide the required assurance about the accuracy and completeness of the nuclear declarations and the absence of diversion of nuclear material under safeguards from peaceful objectives.
The draft also asks Grossi to send the new resolution, the two prior Board of Governors resolutions, and his recent report about the continuation of Tehran’s non-compliance to all agency members, the UN Security Council, and the UN General Assembly.
