Donald Trump, the U.S. president, in an interview with the British network GB News, linked Washington’s military actions against the Islamic Republic to Britain’s security and said that by preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons, the United States is also saving Britain from this threat.

Trump said that if the Islamic Republic were to obtain nuclear weapons, the likelihood of using them in Europe would be greater than in the United States, adding: “I’m also saving Britain.”

He also said that the United States has prevented the Islamic Republic from obtaining nuclear weapons and has disrupted its navy, air force, and command structure.

Referring to the importance of the Strait of Hormuz for Britain and Europe, Trump said the United States controls this waterway and that Britain is also dependent on the flow of energy through this route.

He also criticized the level of Britain’s cooperation with U.S. operations and said London has not shown sufficient readiness to help Washington.

Trump further, pointing to the decline in the value of Iran’s currency, said that military and economic pressure on Tehran is part of the U.S. effort to eliminate the threats posed by the Islamic Republic against the United States and its European allies.
