🔶 Attack on a Norwegian oil tanker off the coast of Oman
A crisis management company announced that in the early hours of Tuesday, July 23, a Norwegian oil tanker, the “Stolth Magnesium,” near the coast of Oman was targeted by an unknown foreign explosive device and was damaged.
The company “MTI Network” reported this in a statement, citing the shipping company “Stolt Tankers,” and added that the incident occurred at around 00:40 a.m. local time as the tanker was transiting the Arabian Sea.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Fortunately, all crew members are safe and the presence of everyone has been confirmed.”
A few days ago, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that, in response to U.S. attacks, it had closed the Strait of Hormuz. Hours before the attack on the Norwegian ship, this force had also said it had targeted “two rogue supertankers.”
The IRGC had said that the two vessels apparently intended to transit the Strait of Hormuz by “turning off navigation systems and disregarding repeated warnings from the security control center of the Strait of Hormuz.”
