An Australian newspaper reported on Wednesday that Prince Reza Pahlavi intends to travel to Australia and ask the government of this country to shut down the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in Canberra and take further action against networks linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

As reported by the Australian newspaper “The Australian,” Prince Pahlavi is expected, in the coming weeks, first to hold a virtual conversation with lawmakers of an opposition coalition to the government and then, during his trip to Australia—whose date has not yet been confirmed—to meet with government officials.

Prince Reza Pahlavi told the newspaper: “I am very keen to hold a virtual meeting with Ted O’Brien and the shadow cabinet to discuss the steps Australia can take to support the people of Iran in their struggle for freedom and democracy.”

The communications and media director of Prince Reza Pahlavi’s office said in this regard that he supports “increasing pressure on the Islamic Republic”; including requests from Australian lawmakers and members of the Iranian community abroad for “full closure of the Tehran embassy in Canberra” and “putting more networks linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the list of prohibited groups on Australian soil.”
