— According to Axios, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered U.S. embassies around the world to deliver a diplomatic note (demarche) regarding an “economic expulsion operation” to the highest levels of host governments.

The embassies have been instructed to ask countries to “immediately and in a systematic manner” cut off trade with Iran, identify Iran’s illegal business activities, and warn that countries, companies, and businesspeople that continue to trade with Iran will face sanctions and loss of access to the dollar system.

The Trump administration is trying to form an interagency task force to coordinate the implementation and execution of its economic pressure operation against Iran.
