📣📣📣📣. UN fact-finding body warns of imminent execution of 10 protesters from Isfahan

An independent international UN fact-finding body for Iran, while expressing concern about the risk of the imminent execution of death sentences for 10 people detained in the protests of Dey 1404 in Isfahan, urged the Islamic Republic to immediately halt the implementation of these rulings. The panel said that the families of at least two of those convicted have been contacted for an ““final visit,”” a matter that could indicate that the time for carrying out the sentences is close.

The 10 prisoners are: Sharvin Baqerian, Abolfazl Ebrahimi, Amirhossein Maleki, Ali Dashti, Amirhossein Ebrahimi Enalvije, Qaim Hosseini, Alireza Reisi, Abolfazl Sepahi, Alireza Sepahi, and Amirhossein Safi, all of whom are among the defendants in the case of the protests of 18 Dey 1404 at Shahid Ali Qani Square in Isfahan.

The UN fact-finding body, pointing to reports of the lack of fair trial, deprivation of effective access to an independent lawyer, confessions under pressure, and the rush to carry out the sentences, called for the immediate halt of the execution of these prisoners and the suspension of all death sentences in Iran with the aim of abolishing the death penalty.
