🔸Tuesday morning, September 17, the price of gasoline in Iran was officially increased from 5,000 tomans per liter to 10,000 tomans.

🔸Fatemeh Mohajerani, spokesperson for the government of the Islamic Republic, announced on Sunday evening, September 15, that the price of the “third quota” of gasoline for vehicles would double from September 17 and reach 10,000 tomans.

🔸In a video statement aired by Iranian government television, Mohajerani said that the price of quota gasoline, which includes 60 liters of 1,500-toman gasoline and 50 liters of 3,000-toman gasoline, would not change.

🔸She added, in further explanation of the increase in the third gasoline quota price: “The price on the gas station fuel card will increase to 10,000 tomans.”

🔸This decision was made less than 10 days after it was announced that Masoud Pezeshkian, the president of Iran, had referred to this rate but had not specified the time of its implementation. He promised that for this action, there would be “talks, information-sharing, and coordination.”

🔸However, the new gasoline rate was announced less than two days before the price increase.
