🔶 The United States has sanctioned 27 Iranian airlines
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that it has sanctioned 36 new targets for supporting Iran’s aviation industry; an industry, according to Washington, that the Islamic Republic uses to transfer weapons, personnel, and unlawful shipments.
Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said the Trump administration had previously promised that anyone who provides a lifeline for the financial system of the Islamic Republic would face severe consequences. He added that the new sanctions target companies that continue to support Mahan Air.
Bessent warned that any individual or company that does business with the remaining Iranian airline companies is at risk of being cut off from the global financial system.
The U.S. Treasury Department announced that it has sanctioned 27 Iranian airline companies due to their activities in the aviation sector of Iran’s economy.
