— The UN General Assembly voted on a proposal to promote the use of a new world map that more accurately shows the true size of the continents, especially Africa.

This resolution, approved with the support of 164 countries, backs replacing the Mercator projection, which is widely used; because this type of map makes Africa appear much smaller than its actual size.
