The New York Times: The Trump administration limited the definition of “harm” in the Endangered Species Act, which changes how federal protections are applied to endangered species and their habitats.
According to the revised interpretation, destruction or degradation of an endangered species’ habitat is not automatically considered illegal unless it directly harms the animal or kills it.
This move could open up more protected areas for activities such as agriculture, drilling, mining, and real estate development.
