The governor of Sanandaj announced that a collision between a fuel tanker and a minibus on the Sanandaj–Hamadan axis led to an explosion and a fire, leaving 11 dead and seven injured.

The head of the judiciary in Kurdistan province said that the fuel tanker carrying 20,000 liters of fuel was involved in a collision from the rear with a minibus at about 17:30 on Saturday, 14 Shahrivar, at the entrance to Sanandaj, and then it exploded.

Initial investigations indicate that a technical defect in the tanker’s brakes was among the factors in the incident, and a judicial case has been opened to investigate the cause of the accident. Following this incident, the governor of Kurdistan province announced two days of public mourning in the province.
