The Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic announced that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will respond decisively to any “act of aggression” by the United States.

This statement was issued after the U.S. Army’s attack on several Iranian oil tankers on the evening of Tuesday, September 17.

The ministry described the attack on “Iranian commercial vessels” in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman as a violation of the UN Charter and international law, and said it was a continuation of the United States’ military actions and naval and economic blockade against the Islamic Republic.

The Foreign Ministry also referred to attacks by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic on bases and military facilities of the United States in Jordan and several American vessels as “legitimate defense” in response to U.S. attacks.

The ministry called on the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to take action against the United States’ military actions against the Islamic Republic.
