🔺Significant Role of the United States in Ensuring Calm in Global Energy Markets

◾The International Energy Agency says that 70% of the decline in liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, LNG, from the Strait of Hormuz has been compensated for through the growth of exports from other countries, especially the United States.

◾Before the Islamic Republic blocked the Strait of Hormuz, Qatar and the UAE together were exporting about 80 million tons of LNG from the Strait of Hormuz, which was equivalent to 20% of global LNG consumption.

◾The agency says, however, that continued disruption in the Strait of Hormuz will create a shortfall in global markets, and this challenge will be felt across all markets.

◾About 84% of the LNG that passed through the Strait of Hormuz last year was destined for Asia, and the share of this gas in total imports of natural and liquefied gas by the European Union was about 4%.
