Reports indicate the suspension of operations and production by international companies in the oil and gas fields of Iraq’s Kurdistan region following increased attacks by the Islamic Republic on this region.

The Rudaw news network has reported, at minimum, the suspension of oil and gas production by the U.S. company “HKN Energy” and the United Arab Emirates company “Dana Gas” in Iraqi Kurdistan. The website Al Monitor, citing Iraqi and local industrial officials, reports that attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its proxy forces have caused international oil and gas companies to suspend their activities in Kurdistan.

Dana Gas is responsible for the large gas field “Khur Mor” in Iraqi Kurdistan, and “HKN Energy” handles the development of the oil and gas fields “Sarsang” and “Atrush” in the region. It has also recently signed a development contract for the Hemrin field with the Iraqi government.

Attacks by the Islamic Republic on Iraqi Kurdistan and the positions of Iranian Kurdish parties have intensified following the Iraqi prime minister’s trip to the United States and the signing of dozens of economic agreements.
