Talks between Oman and the Islamic Republic regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the territorial waters of the two countries in that region have made progress. Two regional sources told CBS that the process is moving in a positive direction, but diplomacy to reach an agreement requires more time.
A delegation of Oman’s officials went to Tehran on Friday for these talks. The trip coincided with Donald Trump, the U.S. president’s, decision to halt the bombing; bombing that had continued for thirteen consecutive nights by then.
Both sources said the bombing was intentionally stopped so as not to disrupt this sensitive in-person diplomacy.
