Mehran Raouf, a political prisoner, labor activist, and Iranian-British dual citizen who is approaching 70, was released from Evin Prison on Wednesday evening after about six years in prison, with an electronic ankle monitor.
This labor activist was released while still subject to restrictions resulting from the implementation of the electronic ankle monitor, and his lawyer and family have expressed hope that, given his age and physical condition, the groundwork will be provided for full release by using legal capacities, including parole.
Mehran Raouf was arrested in Mehr 1399 (October 2020), along with Nahid Tavakky and several other civil and political activists. With the release or completion of the sentences of the other defendants in this case, he was the last remaining prisoner from this file.
