Kuwait’s army general staff said early Monday that the country’s armed forces are dealing with hostile air targets in Kuwait’s airspace, and the sounds of explosions heard are the result of these attacks being tracked by air defense systems.

The statement was released hours after the U.S. Army began a new wave of attacks on Islamic Republic military positions, aiming to reduce the ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC has claimed that, using explosive drones, it targeted a Patriot air defense system, an important ammunition depot, and a radar-related facility for American forces in Kuwait.
