Jordan’s King and Oman’s Sultan discussed regional developments in a phone call on Friday evening. The Jordanian Royal Court said Abdullah II and Haitham bin Tariq emphasized the need to reduce tensions and achieve comprehensive calm in order to restore stability.
Based on a statement from the Jordanian Royal Court, the king said his country is still taking all necessary measures to protect its security and the safety of its citizens and its territory.
According to Oman’s television, the two leaders also emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of international shipping. This point was not included in Jordan’s statement.
Oman is meanwhile mediating over the Strait of Hormuz, and a delegation from the country arrived in Tehran on Friday evening to discuss a mechanism for reopening the strait.
