In a statement, Iran’s Transitional Justice Rules Drafting Committee warned those who give orders and those involved in carrying out the execution of protesters that it will pursue all of these crimes without leniency, and that each execution will add to their criminal responsibility.

In this regard, Afshin Eliyan, a university professor and a member of Iran’s Transitional Justice Rules Drafting Committee, emphasized the need to document executions and other instances of human-rights violations in Iran, and said that all individuals who knowingly play a role in carrying out the executions will face criminal responsibility and legal pursuit in the future..

He called on citizens to keep documents and information related to those who give orders and those involved in executions in a secure manner, and added that these records will be usable both in Iran’s transitional justice process and in international judicial investigations against individuals whom he said have committed “crimes against humanity.”
