Germany’s federal banking regulator, BaFin, told Iran International that Bank Sepah in Frankfurt does not have access to the resources of the German central bank due to sanctions and, following its inability to repay customers’ deposits, has entered insolvency proceedings.

BaFin also said that eligible depositors can receive compensation from the deposit guarantee fund.
