عراقچی: From the very first day, plans were made to close the Strait of Hormuz if the leadership were targeted
Foreign Minister in an interview with the program “Ma’raj-e Jang”:
After the enemy completed its military deployments in the region, it again raised the request for negotiations over “zero enrichment,” and said that if you don’t accept it, we will launch another attack. After extensive discussions, a new conclusion was reached: to begin negotiations, and our main objective was to make it clear later that no one could say that if you had negotiated, there would not have been a war.
In the foreign policy apparatus and in the military forces, we were confident that war would be renewed, and for that reason we agreed to negotiations. We had stated that the government and armed forces would not let the negotiators sit, hoping that the negotiations would proceed. As a result of this readiness, we began our response only two hours after the start of the war during Ramadan.
