From Tanker War to an Environmental Disaster; In Conversation with Faraq Jirāni
🔸The naval clashes between Iran and the United States and the targeting of tankers, beyond their military and economic consequences, have also raised a serious environmental concern; oil spills from damaged tankers in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman could threaten marine life, coasts, and the fisheries industry of the countries in the region. But if the tanker war continues, will the Persian Gulf be on the verge of an environmental crisis? Faraq Jirāni, an environmental expert and a former collaborator with Iran’s Department of Environment who resides in Germany, answers this question.
