Donald Trump, the U.S. president, announced on his Truth Social page that, until further notice, any damage caused to ships, cargoes, or anything related to them will be paid from assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran that are in the possession of and under the control of the United States.

He added that these damages may be very significant; however, he described this move as “fair and just.”
