British security reports have warned that the collapse of ecosystems could, within the next five years, lead to shortages of food, rising prices, large-scale migration, and conflict.

The dependence of industrial agriculture on energy and fertilizer, along with war, disruption to shipping routes, and phenomena such as El Niño, threatens global food security and has prompted some countries to increase food reserves.

Iran also faces a combination of drought, large-scale extraction of groundwater, high water use in agriculture, and dependence on food imports.

The warning text says that intensifying regional tensions could increase the costs of energy, fertilizer, and imports of agricultural products.

At the same time, countries such as Saudi Arabia are seeking to improve the efficiency of water consumption.

According to this assessment, managing water resources, modernizing agriculture, strengthening food security, and diplomacy to reduce countries’ vulnerability to future crises are essential.
