🔻Baqa’i: Developments in Yemen have nothing to do with Iran

Ismail Baqa’i, the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that “developments in Yemen have nothing to do with Iran” and that “we announced our readiness to help facilitate dialogue and peace; unfortunately, that did not happen.”

The spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with the country’s state television, said that “what happened in Yemen is a sign that Yemenis’ patience has run out” and that “one cannot look at things unilaterally and ignore the long-term, oppressive, multi-year siege.”

Mr. Baqa’i claimed that “by accusing Iran, America is seeking to disrupt the situation and create unrest among Islamic countries.”

According to him, “sanctions and an economic siege are a war against Iran.”

The spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 and said: “An economic and maritime blockade of a country can be considered an act of aggression; therefore, Iran’s actions in these circumstances fall within the framework of defense.”
