🔶 American official: Iran’s attack on a U.S. base in Jordan damaged several fighter jets
An American official told Reuters that Iran’s attack on the “Muwaffaq al-Sultani” air base in Jordan damaged several U.S. military aircraft; remarks that contradict statements by Donald Trump, the U.S. president, that no damage was done in this attack.
The news agency, citing the American official who asked not to be named, wrote that one attack aircraft, an “F-10,” lost a wing in the attack, and about eight “F-15” fighters also sustained minor damage, which they returned to service after repairs.
Iran’s attack on the U.S. base in Jordan took place after U.S. forces announced that they had destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. The United States has claimed that its attacks were in response to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ repeated firing of ballistic missiles toward a U.S. Navy warship over the two days prior.
U.S. forces fired about 30 Patriot intercept missiles to counter Iran’s missiles.
