Ali Hossein Ghaazizadeh, a member of the editorial board of Iran International, said that the new U.S. sanctions are broader than in previous periods and are implemented with greater will; in such a way that companies from countries in the region are also being targeted. He added that this time the sanctions have come alongside a naval blockade and military pressures, further limiting export and import routes and the routes used to circumvent sanctions more than before.
According to Ghaazizadeh, with a reduction in foreign exchange reserves, limits on land trade, and the closing of financial routes, the Islamic Republic’s capacity to continue the current situation is constrained; and if this trend continues, Iran’s economy will face even greater pressure in the coming months.
