👤 According to a New York Post report citing a source close to the president, President Trump wants Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, to be selected as the next secretary-general of the United Nations.

Trump believes that Infantino is “respected by everyone around the world” and “has a special ability to unite people.” They grew closer while organizing the 2026 World Cup, and in December Infantino presented Trump with FIFA’s inaugural Peace Prize.

For this post, Infantino needs approval from the Security Council and then approval from the General Assembly, before leaving the post of Antonio Guterres in December.
