ABC News, citing two U.S. officials, reported that the Trump administration provides Saudi Arabia with significant information and assistance to help determine targets, but currently has no plans to carry out direct military attacks against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.

The two U.S. officials told ABC News that if threats to shipping in the Red Sea increase significantly, this position could change.

According to one of these officials, Brett Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, traveled to Saudi Arabia on Thursday as part of Washington’s support for Riyadh to hold meetings.

One U.S. official told ABC News that Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi crown prince, spoke with Trump twice on Thursday and called for U.S. direct military intervention, although he did not indicate that such intervention is necessary.
