Peninsula Shipping Company announced that a crew member in an incident involving an oil tanker flying the flag of Gibraltar that occurred in the waters of Dubai has been “killed.”

The company confirmed the death of one person in a statement, but did not provide details about the cause of death.

In its further statement, Peninsula said that one of the crew members is also missing, and that a group is engaged in a search to find him.

According to initial estimates by sources specialized in maritime safety, the tanker was most likely targeted by a “drone.”
